Lime Kiln Vineyards

The Lime Kiln Vineyard Bed and Breakfast is located on four acres next to our vineyard.  The vineyard's name was taken from the abandoned lime kiln that one passes on the way to our property.

The Lime Kiln Vineyard is small, but beautifully maintained.  The plants are individually pruned and harvested.  They are trained using the bilateral cordon spur system.  They are watered using a drip system that is fed primarily with rain water collection.  Most of our grapes are of the Black Spanish variety, but there are several rows of Zinfandels.  The Black Spanish grapes were brought in to Texas by the missionaries in the 1580's.  This wine was originally used as a communion wine by the Catholic Church.  The Black Spanish grape has proved itself by withstanding the Texas heat and droughts and various grape diseases.  Forgotten for many years, this grape will soon be considered the new grape that will put Texas wine "on the map".  This year we will have grapes mature enough to make wine, so we will be experimenting with recipes.  Come stay with us and be a part of our wine making adventure.
